Do you need time?

They say that time never waits for anyone. But when it comes to people, it’s the opposite. People always desire change, and for that, they must wait for the right time. They don’t even know when that “right time” will come. Therefore, to wait for the right time, one needs time. If someone asked me, “Do you need time?” I would simply say, “Yes, I too need time to wait for the right time.”

• The day before yesterday, I saw a familiar-looking man getting out of a posh car on the road. I stared at his face for quite some time, feeling like I had met him before, but I couldn’t recall where. The fact that he was stepping out of such a luxurious car made me think that, even if he did recognize me, he wouldn’t acknowledge me. (From past experience, I knew that people driving fancy cars often look down upon those walking on the sidewalk.) But the opposite happened. He walked straight toward me, smiling, stood in front of me, and asked, “Sir, do you recognize me?” Instead of answering, I chose to remain silent. Without wasting a moment, he continued, “Sir, ten years ago, I used to work as a waiter at the canteen right opposite your office.” And then it clicked in my mind: “Oh, so he was the waiter at the canteen!” Yet, the disbelief on my face didn’t fade away. He laughed and said, “I hit the jackpot at the right time.” I quietly muttered to myself, “I’m still waiting for my right time.”
• I’m sharing this story here for one reason: Even though we may achieve success through our efforts, hard work, and intelligence, we still credit that success to the “right time.”
• You may not believe in fate, you may not be superstitious, but we all have faith that bad times or good times come only when the right time arrives.
• Often, when reading news about someone surviving an accident, we come across a common phrase: “The time had come, but the moment had not.” It means that destiny decides your right time. In contrast, when reading about someone who died in an accident, the phrase “time seized its moment” frequently appears.
• In the end, waiting for the right time is a lifelong game for everyone. Even after living a fully content life, we continue waiting for the right time — even for death.

“योग्य वेळेची वाट पाहण्यासाठी तर नक्कीच वेळ हवा…!”

असं म्हणतात की, वेळ कधीच कुणाची वाट पहात नसते. पण माणसांच्या बाबतीत हे उलटे आहे. माणसाला मात्र बदल हवा असतो. आणि त्यासाठी त्याला योग्य वेळेची वाट पहावीच लागते. त्याच्यासाठी ती “योग्य वेळ” केंव्हा येईल हे त्याला देखील माहीत नसते. त्यामुळे योग्य वेळेची वाट पाहण्यासाठी त्याला वेळ हवा असतो. कुणी जर मला विचारले की, तुम्हाला वेळ हवा आहे का ? तर मी त्याला हेच सांगेन की, होय, मला देखील योग्य वेळेची वाट पाहण्यासाठी वेळ हवा आहे.

• परवा रस्त्यावर एक परिचित चेहऱ्याचा माणूस मला पॉश कारमधून उतरताना दिसला. खूप वेळ मी त्याचा चेहरा निरखून पहात होतो. मला तो यापूर्वी भेटल्याचे जाणवत होते. मात्र कुठे भेटलो हे मात्र काही केल्या आठवत नव्हते. एकतर तो पॉश कारमधून उतरला होता. त्यामुळे ओळखत असला तरी तो आपल्याकडे ढुंकूनही पाहणार नाही.(कार मधून फिरणारे लोक फुटपाथवर पायी चालत जाणाऱ्यांकडे तुच्छतेने पाहतात, हा अनुभव गाठीशी होता) पण झाले उलटेच. तोच माझ्या दिशेने चालत आला. हसत येवून समोर उभारला आणि म्हणाला,”काय सर, ओळखलंत का ?” मी उत्तर देण्याऐवजी स्तब्ध राहणेच पसंत केले. क्षणाचाही वेळ न दवडता तो मला म्हणाला, “सर, दहा वर्षांपूर्वी मी तुमच्याच ऑफिस समोरील कॅन्टीनमध्ये वेटर म्हणून कामाला होतो.” आत्ता माझ्या डोक्यात प्रकाश पडला.”अरेच्चा, तर हा कॅन्टीनमध्ये वेटर होता”. तरी देखील माझ्या चेहऱ्यावरील अविश्वासाचे भाव संपत नव्हते. मग तोच हसून म्हणाला, “योग्य वेळेची लॉटरी लागली”. मी मात्र मनातल्या मनात पुटपुटलो, “मी मात्र अजून योग्य वेळेची वाट पाहतोय”.
• हा किस्सा इथं सांगण्याचं एकच कारण आहे, भलेही आपण आपल्या प्रयत्नातून, मेहनतीच्या आणि बुद्धिमत्तेच्या जोरावर यश मिळवले असले तरी मिळालेल्या यशाचे श्रेय आपण “योग्य वेळेला” देत असतो.
• एकवेळ तुम्ही दैववादी नसाल, तुम्ही अंधश्रद्धाळू नसाल तरीदेखील आयुष्यात वाईट काळ किंवा चांगला काळ हा योग्य वेळ आल्यावरच येत असतो यावर मात्र आपली श्रद्धा असते.
• बऱ्याच वेळा अपघातातून बचावलेल्या जखमींची वृत्तपत्रात प्रसिद्ध झालेली बातमी वाचताना एक गुळगुळीत झालेले वाक्य आपल्याला हमखास वाचायला मिळत असते. “काळ आला होता पण वेळ आली नव्हती”. म्हणजेच तुमची योग्य वेळ नियतीच ठरवत असते. तेच अपघातात मृत झालेल्या व्यक्ती बाबत मात्र “काळाने आपली वेळ साधली” असे वाक्य हमखास वाचायला मिळते.
• शेवटी योग्य वेळेची वाट पाहणे हा तर प्रत्येकाचा आयुष्यभराचा खेळ आहे. सगळं समाधानी आयुष्य जगल्यानंतरही मृत्यूसाठी योग्य वेळेची आपण वाट पहात असतोच ना ?
