What book are you reading right now?

It is often said that a generation unaware of its past is bound to grope in the darkness when it comes to its future. In other words, if you know nothing about the richness and bravery of your ancestors, it implies that you are unaware of your past. So, if you don’t know your past, how can your future be bright?

• There is a certain age for reading stories, novels, and poetry collections. However, it is equally true that those who understand that reading enriches you know there is no age limit for it.
• If you read out of curiosity, you may prefer reading science fiction, horror stories, and mysteries over novels. Among them, you will certainly enjoy reading history more, especially the kind that provides clear and factual information rather than mere entertainment. Since elders often advise that we read history books recognized by the government for their authenticity, I always strive to find such books. Recently, with the rise of digital media, it has become difficult to find printed books.
• As a result, I often resort to Google searches, eagerly downloading and reading whatever books I can find through the platform.
• I’ve always enjoyed reading ancient, medieval, and modern history. Along with reading about the world wars, I believe that reading the history of our own country and region—the history of our ancestors’ prosperity and bravery—helps us discover the purpose of life. It gives us a clear goal to live for. I think you will agree with my statement that our ancestors are the inspiration for our present. Once we define the goal of our lives, we can begin moving toward future prosperity.
• At present, I am trying to gather and read government-approved books that provide comprehensive knowledge of the medieval and Shivaji-era periods of Maharashtra. I find both joy and inspiration in this pursuit.

“इतिहासाची पुस्तके वाचल्याने भूतकाळातील आपली समृद्धता आणि शौर्याची माहिती होते…..!”

असं म्हणतात की ज्या पिढीला आपला भूतकाळ माहीत नाही, त्या पिढीचा भविष्यकाळ नक्कीच अंधारात चाचपडत असतो. म्हणजेच तुमच्या पूर्वजांची समृद्धता आणि त्यांच्या शौर्याविषयी जर तुम्हाला काहीच माहिती नसेल तर तुम्हाला तुमचा भूतकाळ माहिती नाही असा त्याचा अर्थ होतो. मग जर तुम्हाला तुमचा भूतकाळच माहीत नसेल तर तुमचा भविष्यकाळ कसा काय उज्ज्वल असणार..?

• कथा, कादंबऱ्या, कविता संग्रह वाचण्याचे देखील एक वय असते. अर्थात वाचन कराल तरच तुम्ही समृद्ध व्हाल हे ज्याला समजते त्याला वाचनासाठी वयाची अट नसते, हे देखील तितकेच खरे आहे.
• तुम्ही जिज्ञासेपोटी वाचन करत असाल तर मग कथा-कादंबऱ्यांच्या वाचनापेक्षा तुम्हाला विज्ञानकथा, भयकथा, गूढकथा याबरोबरच इतिहास वाचायला जास्त आवडू शकते. त्यातही रंजनापेक्षा अधिक स्पष्ट आणि सत्य माहिती देणारा इतिहास वाचायला तुम्हाला नक्कीच आवडेल. सत्यतेच्या कसोटीवर आपण सहसा शासनाने मान्यता दिलेल्या इतिहासाची पुस्तके वाचावीत असा ज्येष्ठांनी सल्ला दिल्यापासून मी तशी पुस्तके मिळविण्याच्या प्रयत्नात नेहमीच असतो. अलीकडे डिजिटल मीडियाचा वापर मोठ्या प्रमाणात होत असल्याने छापील पुस्तके वाचायला मिळणे कठीण झाले आहे.
• त्यामुळे गुगल सर्च करून जी पुस्तके गुगलच्या माध्यमातून डाउनलोड करून वाचता येतील अशी पुस्तके आधाशासारखी वाचून काढत असतो.
• मला इतिहासाचा प्राचीन, मध्ययुगीन आणि आधुनिक कालखंड वाचायला नेहमीच आवडते. जागतिक महायुद्धाचा इतिहास वाचण्याबरोबरच आपल्या देशाचा, प्रदेशाचा इतिहास म्हणजेच आपल्या पूर्वजांच्या समृद्धीचा आणि शौर्याचा इतिहास वाचल्याने आपल्याला आयुष्य जगताना ते कश्यासाठी जगायचे ? याचे निश्चित ध्येय सापडते असा माझा समज आहे. कारण आपले पूर्वज हीच आपल्या वर्तमानाची प्रेरणा असतात या माझ्या विधानाशी आपण सहमत व्हाल. जेंव्हा आपल्या जगण्याचे ध्येय निश्चित होते तेंव्हाच आपण आपल्या भविष्यकाळातील समृद्धतेकडे वाटचाल सुरु करू शकतो.
• सध्या मी माझ्या महाराष्ट्र प्रदेशाच्या मध्ययुगीन आणि शिवकालीन कालखंडाची समग्र माहिती मिळावी यासाठी जी शासनमान्य पुस्तके आहेत ती मिळवून वाचनाच्या प्रयत्नात आहे. मला त्यातून आनंद आणि प्रेरणा मिळते.
