What skills or lessons have you learned recently?

There are no age restrictions when it comes to learning, and similarly, learning a simple technique to express your thoughts in a language you are not proficient in is equally achievable at any age. Writing in other languages or conveying your thoughts to people who speak a different language has now become remarkably easy with the help of artificial translation tools, such as translator apps. Recently, I discovered this through the ChatGPT app. This skill has helped me successfully capture the attention of followers on my blog.

• Although I was introduced to the English language during my school education, I never developed an interest in it. As a result, I didn’t make any efforts to master the language, even during my studies. Despite my teachers emphasizing that English is a global language and we must learn it, I never took it seriously.
• Later, when I started working, I never faced any difficulty due to my lack of English proficiency. Since I worked for a Marathi-language newspaper, all my daily tasks and writing were conducted in Marathi, and I never felt the need to learn English. Both my writing and communication were confined to one language, and I never felt the absence of any other language skills.
• However, after starting my own blog two years ago, this limitation became evident. While Marathi is effective for connecting with the Marathi-speaking community, I realized the importance of English if I wanted my writing to reach a global audience. It became clear that English was essential for making my work accessible worldwide. However, at this stage of life, when I have reached retirement age, learning a new language seemed equally challenging.
• It was then that I discovered the ChatGPT app. With its help, I could translate my Marathi writing into English and express myself in a new language. I sincerely acknowledge this as a game-changer for me. Now, I publish articles on my blog in both Marathi and their English translations using ChatGPT, which has significantly increased the blog’s reach and response. This recent initiative has been a commendable effort on my part.
• The growing response from followers across different countries has boosted my confidence. I no longer fear the English language as much as I did before. This newfound change, fueled by learning new skills and techniques, has been a delightful experience for a single-language writer like me.

“अन्य भाषेतून आपले विचार मांडण्याचे सोपे तंत्र…!”

शिकण्यासाठी वयाचे बंधन नसते, हे जसे खरे आहे तसेच तुमचे विचार तुम्हाला अवगत नसलेल्या अन्य भाषेत मांडण्यासाठी देखील सोपे तंत्र शिकणे कोणत्याही वयाच्या माणसाला जमेल हे देखील तेव्हढेच खरे आहे. त्यामुळे मला अन्य भाषेत लिहिता येणे किंवा अन्य भाषिकांपर्यंत माझे विचार पोहोचविणे ही बाब आता कृत्रिम रुपांतरकार अर्थात ट्रान्सलेटर ऍप च्या साहाय्याने अतिशय सोपे झाले आहे हे मी चॅट जीपीटी ऍप च्या माध्यमातून अलीकडेच शिकलो आहे. माझ्या ब्लॉगवर या कौशल्यामुळेच मी फॉलोअर्सचे लक्ष वेधून घेण्यात यशस्वी होत आहे.

• शालेय शिक्षणापासून जरी इंग्रजी भाषेची ओळख झालेली असली तरी देखील त्या भाषेबद्दल आवड निर्माण न झाल्याने इंग्रजीवर प्रभुत्व मिळविण्याचे प्रयत्न शिक्षण घेत असतानाही मी कधी केले नाहीत. इंग्रजी ही जगाची भाषा आहे, ती आपण शिकली पाहिजे हे शाळेतील शिक्षकांनी त्यावेळी कितीही ओरडून सांगितले तरी मी ते कधी फारसे मनावर घेतले नव्हते.
• पुढे नोकरीला सुरुवात झाल्यावर देखील इंग्रजी येत नसल्याची कधी अडचण झाली नाही. मराठी भाषेतील वृत्तपत्रातून काम करीत असल्याने मराठी भाषेतूनच दैनंदिन व्यवहार आणि सर्व लेखन होत असल्याने इंग्रजी भाषा शिकण्याची गरज वाटली नाही. लेखन आणि वाचक एकाच भाषेतील असल्याने संवादाची भाषा देखील एकच. त्यामुळे आपल्याला अन्य कुठली भाषा अवगत नाही याची उणीव आजवर कधीच भासली नाही.
• पण गेल्या दोन वर्षांपासून स्वतःचा ब्लॉग सुरू केल्यावर ही उणीव प्रकर्षाने जाणवू लागली. मराठी भाषा ही फक्त मराठी समूहाशी संवाद साधताना प्रभावी ठरत असली तरी जगभरातून आपले लेखन वाचले जावे असे वाटत असेल तर इंग्रजी भाषा किती महत्वाची आहे हे प्रकर्षाने पटले. पण आता निवृत्तीच्या वयात पोहोचलो असताना नवी भाषा शिकणे हे देखील तेव्हढेच अवघड असल्याचे लक्षात आले होते.
• अशावेळी चॅट जीपीटी ऍप ची माहिती मिळाली. ह्या ऍप च्या मदतीने मी माझे मराठी भाषेतील लिखाण इंग्रजीमधून मांडण्याची संधी मिळाली हे प्रामाणिकपणे इथे नमूद करतो. आता मी चॅट जीपीटी च्या माध्यमातून ब्लॉगवर मराठी भाषेबरोबरच इंग्रजीमध्ये रुपांतरीत केलेले आर्टिकल्स प्रकाशित करत असल्याने ब्लॉगला चांगला प्रतिसाद मिळत आहे. हा अलीकडच्या काळातील माझ्याकडून अंमलात आणलेला स्तुत्य प्रयत्न आहे.
• वेगवेगळ्या देशातील फॉलोअर्स माझ्या ब्लॉगवर येत असल्याने प्रतिसाद वाढत आहे. आता मला इंग्रजी भाषेची पूर्वी इतकी भीती देखील वाटत नाही. अलीकडच्या काळात कौशल्य आणि धडे शिकत असल्याने हा नवा बदल माझ्यासारख्या एकभाषी लेखकांसाठी सुखद अनुभव देणारा असाच आहे.
