Who are the biggest influences in your life?

Influence holds great importance in everyone’s life because it plays a key role in shaping a person’s personality. Influence can take various forms. Some people are influenced by individuals, while others are affected by places, nature, divine forces, books, scriptures, lifestyle, or even supernatural elements. Under the impact of these influences, a person brings about changes within themselves. This is an ongoing process—once influenced by one thing, another influence follows, and this cycle continues endlessly.

• In Hinduism, Lord Ganesha holds immense significance as the deity of wisdom. The elephant-headed human form of Ganesha is revered by people of all ages. Especially during the beloved Ganesh festival, the cultural programs, grand aartis, and distribution of offerings across towns and villages naturally enhance our attraction toward Him. This growing attraction leads to a profound influence. I, too, am deeply influenced by Lord Ganesha.
• The appeal of Ganesha is not limited to His form. The various competitions and cultural programs organized during Ganeshotsav have had a remarkable impact on me. Ganeshotsav serves as a fountain of influences, fostering creativity and personal growth. That’s why Ganeshotsav in India is not only considered a religious celebration but also an open workshop for shaping personalities.
• In India, particularly in Maharashtra, it has been a tradition for the creative and sensitive individuals in the community to emerge through participation in Ganeshotsav. Artists of all kinds—regardless of their specific art form—develop their passion for art through their involvement in this festival. Hence, it is nearly impossible to find an artist who hasn’t participated in Ganeshotsav at some point. Over the years, this festival has produced numerous artists, speakers, writers, and athletes from various fields.
• I, too, owe a great deal of my creative growth to Lord Ganesha and Ganeshotsav. I believe wholeheartedly that the artist within me was nurtured through my participation in the competitions and cultural programs organized during Ganeshotsav in my childhood.
• Additionally, I have been profoundly influenced by my parents, schoolteachers, nature, and books. This influence is something I constantly feel, and I believe it serves as the primary source of shaping my personality. Even today, before starting any new writing or task, I invoke the name of Lord Ganesha. Saying “Ganpati Bappa Morya” makes any potential challenges vanish.

“प्रभावातून प्रथम अनुकरण मग त्यातूनच व्यक्तिमत्व घडते…!”

प्रत्येकाच्या आयुष्यात प्रभावाला खूप महत्व आहे. कारण या प्रभावामुळेच त्या व्यक्तीचे व्यक्तिमत्व घडत असते. प्रभाव हा वेगवेगळ्या प्रकारचा असू शकतो. काही जणांवर एखाद्या व्यक्तीचा प्रभाव असतो. काहीवेळा जागेचा, निसर्गाचा, दैवीप्रभाव, पुस्तके, धर्मग्रंथ, जीवनशैली, भूतपिशाच्च अशा अनेक प्रकारच्या प्रभावाखाली माणूस आपल्यातील बदल घडवत असतो. ही निरंतर चालणारी प्रक्रिया असते. एका गोष्टीचा प्रभाव पडला की नंतर पुन्हा आणखी एखाद्या गोष्टीचा प्रभाव पडणे ही प्रक्रिया सतत सुरूच असते.

• हिंदू धर्मात बुद्धीची देवता म्हणून गणपतीचे खूप मोठे महात्म्य आहे. हत्तीचे तोंड असलेले मानवी अवतारातील गणपती हे आबालवृध्दांचे आराध्य दैवत आहे. त्यातही लाडक्या श्री गणेशाच्या गणपती उत्सवात गावा-गावातून होणारे सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम, महाआरती, प्रसादवाटप यातून आपले आकर्षण आपोआप वाढत जाते. या वाढत्या आकर्षणातूनच त्याबद्दलचा प्रभाव निर्माण होतो. माझ्यावर देखील श्रीगणेशाचा प्रभाव आहे.
• गणपतीचे रूप-स्वरूप एव्हढेच प्रभावाचे कारण नाही. तर गणेशोत्सवामध्ये आयोजित होणाऱ्या विविध स्पर्धा आणि सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमांमुळे श्रीगणेशाचा माझ्यावर विलक्षण असा प्रभाव आहे. गणेशोत्सव हा प्रभाव निर्माण करणाऱ्या अनेक गोष्टींचा झराच आहे. त्यामुळेच गणेशोत्सवाला भारतात फक्त धार्मिक महत्व नसून व्यक्तिमत्व घडविणारी खुली कार्यशाळाच समजले जाते.
• भारतातील विशेषतः महाराष्ट्रातील कलासक्त संवेदनशील माणसातील कलावंत हा गणेशोत्सवातील सहभागातूनच घडतो हा आजवरचा रिवाज आहे. कलावंत मग तो कुठल्याही कला प्रकारातील असो, त्याला कलेविषयीचे आकर्षण हे या उत्सवात सहभागी झाल्यानंतरच होते. त्यामुळे गणेशोत्सवात सहभागी झाला नाही असा एकही कलावंत शोधून देखील सापडणार नाही. भारतातील गणेशोत्सवाने आजवर अनेक कलाप्रकारातील अनेक कलावंत दिले आहेत. अनेक व्याख्याते, साहित्यिक, खेळाडू, घडविले आहेत.
• माझ्यावर देखील श्रीगणेश आणि गणेशोत्सवाचा मोठा प्रभाव आहे. लहानपणी गणेशोत्सवानिमित्त आयोजित होणाऱ्या विविध स्पर्धा आणि सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमातून सहभाग घेतल्यामुळेच माझ्यातील कलावंत घडला असल्याचे माझे प्रांजळ मत आहे.
• याबरोबरच आई-वडील, शाळेतील वर्गशिक्षक निसर्ग आणि पुस्तकांचा माझ्यावर विलक्षण असा प्रभाव आहे. जो मला सतत जाणवत असतो. हा प्रभावंच माझे व्यक्तिमत्व घडविण्याचे मुख्य स्रोत आहे असे मला कायम वाटते. आजही नवीन लेखन किंवा कोणतेही कार्य सुरू करायचे असेल तर आधी श्रीगणेशाचे नामस्मरण करून मी सुरुवात करतो. “गणपती बाप्पा मोरया” असं म्हटलं की तुमच्या समोर येणाऱ्या संभाव्य अडचणी कुठल्या कुठे पळून जातात.
