What animals make the best/worst pets?
Pets hold a special place in a person’s life. They don’t just provide entertainment, but the bond shared with them teaches us important values like mental peace, companionship, and responsibility. However, not all animals are suitable to be kept as pets. Their temperament, needs, and care requirements determine their suitability.
In November 2024, I was bitten by a stray dog in Satara. After that, I had to complete the full course of anti-rabies injections.
Still, I believe that dogs, horses, and rabbits are among the best animals to keep as pets.
While choosing a pet, one should not be guided solely by the animal’s appearance or appeal. “कुत्रा आणि मांजर हे पाळण्यासाठी सर्वोत्तम…!”
पाळीव प्राणी ही माणसाच्या आयुष्यात एक खास जागा राखून असलेली बाब आहे. ते फक्त माणसाचे मनोरंजन करत नाहीत, तर त्यांच्याशी असलेले नाते मानसिक शांतता, companionship आणि जबाबदारी यासारख्या गोष्टी शिकवते. मात्र, सर्व प्राणी पाळीव म्हणून योग्य ठरत नाहीत. त्यांच्याच्या स्वभाव, गरजा, आणि देखभाल यावर त्यांची योग्यता ठरते. नोव्हेंबर २०२४ मध्ये सातारा येथे एका भटक्या कुत्र्याने माझा चावा घेतला होता. त्यानंतर मला अँटी रेबीजच्या इंजेक्शन्सचा कोर्स पूर्ण करावा लागला. तरी देखील मला पाळीव म्हणून कुत्रा, घोडा, ससा हे प्राणी सर्वोत्तम वाटतात.
पाळीव प्राणी निवडताना केवळ त्यांचा देखावा किंवा आकर्षण पाहू नये. त्यांच्या स्वभाव, दैनंदिन गरजा, आपल्या घरातील परिस्थिती, वेळ देण्याची क्षमता, आणि कायदेशीर मर्यादा यांचा विचार करून योग्य प्राणी निवडणे गरजेचे आहे. योग्य निवड केल्यास प्राणी आणि माणूस यांच्यातील नाते जीवनभर टिकते आणि परस्पर आनंद देणारे ठरते.

१. कुत्रे :-
- गुणधर्म :- विश्वासू, समजूतदार, शिकण्यास तयार, रक्षण करणारे.
- योग्यता :- लहान मुलांसाठी आणि कुटुंबांसाठी सर्वोत्तम.
- ताकीद :- त्यांना वेळ, व्यायाम आणि माया लागते.
२. मांजर :-
- गुणधर्म :- स्वच्छ, शांत, स्वतंत्र स्वभावाचे.
- योग्यता :- अपार्टमेंटमध्ये राहणाऱ्यांसाठी उत्तम.

- अयोग्यता :- अत्यंत ऊर्जा असलेले, खूप त्रास देणारे. चावण्याची आणि वस्तू फेकण्याची सवय.
क. स्मॉल वाइल्ड कॅट्स :-
- गुणधर्म :- दिसायला आकर्षक पण हल्लेखोर.
- अयोग्यता :- प्रशिक्षित करणे अवघड, अपघाताची शक्यता.
ड. अविकसित किंवा अपारंपरिक प्राणी :-
- गुणधर्म :- काही जणांना आकर्षक वाटतात, पण व्यवहारिकदृष्ट्या अवघड.
- अयोग्यता :- त्यांची गरज समजणे आणि योग्य काळजी घेणे सामान्य माणसाला जमत नाही.
