  The editorship I received after deciding to retire has become a new source of energy for me.

1️⃣✒️ The Decision of Retirement

On April 11, 2025, I turned 58 and decided to retire from journalism due to age, after a long journey in this field. Having worked for so many years brought me satisfaction, yet there was also a tender awareness of what lay ahead. Retirement meant freedom from responsibilities, but at the same time, it also made me realize that a major chapter of my life had come to an end.

2️⃣✒️ An Unexpected Opportunity

Just ten days after deciding to retire, on April 20, Mr. Dharmendra Pawar, the Managing Editor of Amrutvel Media Group, personally met me and entrusted me with a great responsibility. He offered me the editorship of all four prestigious Marathi magazines published by Amrutvel. This opportunity was completely unexpected for me. It felt as though a new chapter of life was unfolding.

The thought—”No more retirement!”—flashed in my mind, and my heart began to beat with excitement. The sense of stability that usually comes with advancing age suddenly stopped there. Accepting this responsibility felt as if I had regained the confidence and energy of youth. The new responsibilities set my life’s journey into motion once again with renewed vigor.

The love I received from friends, colleagues, and readers for this new responsibility was truly unique. Everyone enthusiastically welcomed my selection. This overwhelming response further strengthened my confidence. Their encouragement made my resolve even firmer.

The role of an editor is not just about editing magazines, but also about presenting the right thoughts, direction, and inspiration to society. While accepting this new role, I intend to use my experiences wisely and bring in new experiments. As responsibilities have grown, so too has the motivation to work.

Though age is advancing, the enthusiasm brought by new responsibilities is enriching life even more. Now, each day gives me fresh energy. Even at the moment of retirement, life has gifted me a new beginning. That is why I feel—when we embrace responsibilities, age remains just a number; true youth lies in the vigor of the heart.

“निवृत्तीनंतरही नवी जबाबदारी : उत्साहाचे निमित्त…!”

तुम्ही शेवटच्या कोणत्या गोष्टी बद्दल उत्साहित झालात ते आम्हाला सांगा.

  कधी आपण थांबतो, तर कधी नवीन वाटा पकडतो.
  वयाच्या एका टप्प्यावर पोहोचल्यानंतरही जीवन आपल्याला नवनवीन संधी दाखवतं.
  अचानक मिळालेल्या जबाबदाऱ्यांमुळे मन पुन्हा तरुण होतं.
  हेच मला ११ एप्रिल २०२५ नंतर अनुभवायला मिळालं.
  निवृत्तीचा निर्णय घेतल्यानंतर मिळालेलं संपादकपद माझ्यासाठी नवी ऊर्जा ठरली आहे.

१️✒️ निवृत्तीचा निर्णय

११ एप्रिल २०२५ रोजी मी ५८ वर्षे पूर्ण केली आणि पत्रकारितेच्या दीर्घ प्रवासानंतर वयपरत्वे निवृत्त होण्याचा निर्णय घेतला. दीर्घकाळ या क्षेत्रात काम केल्यानंतर मनात समाधान होतं, पण त्याचबरोबर पुढे काय करायचं याची हळवी जाणीवही होती. निवृत्ती म्हणजे जबाबदाऱ्यांपासून मुक्ती, पण त्याच वेळी आयुष्यातील एक मोठा टप्पा संपल्याचंही भान होतं.

२️✒️ अनपेक्षित संधी

निवृत्तीचा निर्णय घेतल्यानंतर अवघ्या दहा दिवसांतच २० एप्रिल रोजी मला “अमृतवेल मीडिया ग्रुप”चे व्यवस्थापकीय संपादक धर्मेंद्र पवार यांनी प्रत्यक्ष भेटून एक मोठी जबाबदारी सोपविली. मराठीतून प्रसिद्ध होणाऱ्या ‘अमृतवेल’ च्या चारही प्रतिष्ठित मासिकाच्या संपादकपदाची ऑफर माझ्यासमोर ठेवली. ही संधी माझ्यासाठी पूर्णपणे अनपेक्षित होती. आयुष्यात नवा अध्याय उलगडत असल्याची जाणीव झाली.

३️✒️ मनातील उत्साह

“आता निवृत्ती नाही!” हा विचार मनात आला आणि माझं हृदय उत्साहाने धडधडू लागलं. वयाची पायरी चढताना जो स्थैर्याचा विचार मनात येतो, तो इथे थांबला. ही जबाबदारी स्वीकारताना जणू मला पुन्हा तरुणाईसारखा आत्मविश्वास आणि ऊर्जा लाभली. नव्या जबाबदाऱ्यांनी आयुष्याची वाटचाल पुन्हा वेगवान केली.

४️✒️ मित्र-परिवाराचे स्वागत

या नव्या जबाबदारीबद्दल माझ्या मित्रवर्गाने, सहकाऱ्यांनी आणि वाचकवर्गाने दिलेलं प्रेम अनोखं होतं. सर्वांनी उत्स्फूर्तपणे माझ्या निवडीचं स्वागत केलं. या प्रतिसादाने माझ्या मनात आत्मविश्वास अधिक दृढ झाला. त्यांच्या प्रोत्साहनाने माझा निर्धार आणखी ठाम झाला.

५️✒️ जबाबदारीतून निर्माण झालेला नवा दृष्टिकोन

संपादकपदाची जबाबदारी म्हणजे केवळ मासिकाचे संपादन नव्हे, तर समाजापुढे योग्य विचार, दिशा आणि प्रेरणा ठेवण्याची संधी आहे. ही नवी भूमिका स्वीकारताना मी स्वतःच्या अनुभवांचा योग्य उपयोग करून नवे प्रयोग करण्याचा मानस ठेवला आहे. जबाबदारी वाढली तशीच काम करण्याची प्रेरणाही वाढली आहे.

६️✒️ वय आणि उत्साह यांचं सुंदर समीकरण

वय वाढत असलं तरी जबाबदारीने दिलेला उत्साह आयुष्य अधिक समृद्ध करत आहे. आता प्रत्येक दिवस मला नवी ऊर्जा देतो. निवृत्तीच्या क्षणातही आयुष्याने मला नवी सुरुवात दिली आहे. म्हणूनच असं वाटतं – जबाबदाऱ्यांचा स्वीकार केला, तर वय फक्त आकडा राहतो; खरा तरुणपणा मनाच्या उमेदीत असतो.
