भगवान श्रीकृष्णाचे स्मरण म्हणून…..!

Where did your name come from?

Shakespeare once said, “What’s in a name?” But that was Shakespeare’s view. For us Indians, even today, there is a great fascination with names. Names inspired by our lineage, country, Gods, good thoughts, or our faith are given with the intention that the constant recollection of these names will keep their memory alive whenever others call them out. Among Indians, names are often given with the intention that they serve as a reminder of the divine. Sometimes, names are given to individuals in the next generation to remember past events or people. Similarly, my name, “Mukund,” was given to me in remembrance of Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna is also seen as the orchestrator of the Mahabharata. He has conveyed that whenever there is a threat to righteousness, a decline in dharma, and an increase in unrighteousness and oppression, making life difficult for the common people, he will incarnate on this earth. This is the essence of the Bhagavad Gita and the core belief of all Indians. This is why the tradition of naming children after Lord Krishna exists. Lord Krishna has many forms and avatars, and thus, many names. “Mukund” is one of those names. This is the story behind my name as I know it.

शेक्सपिअर म्हणाला होता की, नावात काय आहे ? पण ते शेक्सपिअरचं म्हणणं आहे. आम्हा भारतीयांमध्ये आजही नावाबद्दल खूप आकर्षण आहे, आपल्या कुळाचे, देशाचे, देवाचे, चांगल्या विचारांचे, स्वधर्माचे कायम स्मरण रहावे या उद्देशाने प्रेरित असलेली नावे दिल्याने इतरांकडून त्या नावाचा उच्चार झाल्याने कायम स्मरण राहील हाच उद्देश स्पष्ट होतो. भारतीय लोकांमध्ये सहसा परमेश्वराचे स्मरण व्हावे या हेतूनेच नाव ठेवण्यात येते. काही ठिकाणी घडून गेलेल्या घटनांचे, अथवा होवून गेलेल्या व्यक्तींचे स्मरण राहण्यासाठी देखील पुढच्या पिढीतील व्यक्तीला ते नाव लावण्यात येते. तसे माझे नाव हे “मुकुंद” हे भगवान श्रीकृष्ण यांचे स्मरण म्हणूनच ठेवले आहे. महाभारताचा कर्ता करविता म्हणून देखील भगवान श्रीकृष्णाकडे पाहिले जाते. जेंव्हा जेंव्हा धर्म आणि राष्ट्रावर संकट येईल, मरगळ येईल, अधर्म आणि अत्याचार वाढेल, सर्वसामान्यांचे जगणे मुश्किल होईल तेंव्हा या पृथ्वीतलावर मी जन्म घेईन हाच संदेश भगवान श्रीकृष्णाने दिला आहे. तोच भगवद्गीतेचा सार आहे. हीच सर्व भारतीयांची मनोधारणा आहे. याचे स्मरण म्हणूनच भगवान श्रीकृष्णाचे नाव ठेवण्याची प्रथा आहे. भगवान श्रीकृष्णाची अनेक रूपे, अनेक अवतार आहेत. तशी त्याची अनेक नावे आहेत. त्यापैकीच “मुकुंद” हे एक नाव आहे. हीच मला माहित असलेली माझ्या नावाची कथा आहे.
