“सध्या भारतात आनंदाचे दिवस सुरू आहेत…!”

I believe that all religions in the world teach moral values and promote human welfare and happiness. Every religion has established “festivals” by combining moral conduct with religious teachings. A festival is essentially a celebration of joy rooted in virtuous behavior and religious rules. Currently, in India, there is an abundance of Hindu festivals. Following Navratri and Dussehra, the festive spirit of Diwali is now approaching. Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated with the hope of dispelling darkness from our lives and filling them with light. For Hindus, this festival is a joyous celebration of light. This year, the festival will be celebrated from October 29th to November 3rd. Additionally, the state of Maharashtra will be holding its assembly elections during this time, meaning that right after Diwali, the festival of democracy will also take place. That’s why I said, these are currently days of joy in India.

• Although inflation is always a central topic of discussion for the common people during every festival, it usually doesn’t go beyond criticizing the government. No matter how high inflation rises, the common person does not stop celebrating festivals. They continue to celebrate according to their financial capacity because, for them, it is a “golden opportunity” to celebrate joy.
• While celebrating festivals, preserving age-old traditions is a matter of pride for them, or they see it as their identity. That’s why during religious festivals, everyone tends to display their devotion, and they do this out of their faith in God. However, some festivals emphasize culture and values more than religious rituals. In such cases, since the religious aspect is set aside, people from other faiths also participate. Ultimately, joy is the one true religion. This is why, in a multi-religious country like India, during the festival of Ramadan, Hindus greet Muslims and join in the joy of Eid, and similarly, during Diwali, Muslims partake in the festival of lights. Such a sight is unique to India.
• Lastly, an important point: this year, the campaign for the Maharashtra state assembly elections coincides with the festival of Diwali. Elections are the greatest festival of democracy. While the citizens of the country may have different religious festivals, the festival of democracy is the same for all. The general election in India, the world’s largest democracy, is a celebration of freedom and sovereignty, where people choose their government through their votes. That’s why I said at the beginning, these are currently days of joy in India.

जगातले सर्वच धर्म हे मानवी कल्याण आणि आनंदाची धार्मिक शिकवण देणारे आहेत असं माझं मत आहे. सदाचारी वृत्तीला धार्मिक शिकवणुकीची जोड देत प्रत्येक धर्माने “सणांची” निर्मिती केली आहे. सदाचार आणि धार्मिक नियमातून आनंदाचा उत्सव करणे म्हणजेच “सण” होय. भारतात सध्या हिंदुधर्मीयांच्या सणांची रेलचेल सुरू आहे. नवरात्र-दसऱ्यानंतर आता दीपावली सणाची चाहूल लागली आहे. दीपावली म्हणजे प्रकाशाचा उत्सव. सर्वांच्याच आयुष्यातील अंधःकार नाहीसा होवून जीवन प्रकाशमय व्हावे म्हणून साजरा केला जाणारा “दीपावली” हा उत्सव म्हणजे हिंदूधर्मीयांसाठी प्रकाशाचा आनंदोत्सव असतो. २९ ऑक्टोबर ते ३ नोव्हेंबर पर्यंत हा प्रकाशाचा उत्सव साजरा होणार आहे. त्यातच महाराष्ट्र राज्यात विधानसभा निवडणूक होत आहे. म्हणजे दीपावली पाठोपाठ लोकशाहीचा उत्सव देखील होत आहे. म्हणूनच म्हंटलं की सध्या भारतात आनंदाचे दिवस सुरू आहेत.

• प्रत्येक सणासुदीच्या दिवसात महागाई हा विषय सर्वसामान्यांच्या चर्चेचा प्रमुख विषय असला तरी सरकारवर टीका करण्यापलीकडे हा विषय जात नसतो. महागाईने कितीही उच्चांक गाठला तरी देखील सर्वसामान्य माणूस सण साजरा करण्याचे सोडत नसतो. तो त्याच्या आर्थिक कुवतीनुसार सण साजरा करतच असतो. कारण त्याच्यासाठी ही आनंद साजरा करण्याची “पर्वणी” असते.
• सण साजरा करतानाही पूर्वापार चालत आलेल्या परंपरा जपणे हा त्याच्या अभिमानाचा विषय असतो. किंवा तीच त्याची ओळख असल्याचे तो मानत असतो. त्यामुळे ज्या सणांमध्ये धार्मिक विधींचे महत्व असते तिथे प्रत्येकजण हा आपली धार्मिकता प्रदर्शित करत असतो. अर्थात हे देखील तो परमेश्वराविषयी असलेल्या श्रध्देपोटीच करत असतो. पण काही सण हे धार्मिक विधींपेक्षाही संस्कृती आणि संस्काराला महत्व देणारे असतात. अशावेळी धार्मिकतेला थोडे बाजूला ठेवलेले असल्याने इतर धर्मीय लोक सुद्धा अशा सणांमध्ये सहभागी होत असतात. शेवटी आनंद मिळवून देणारा हाच एक धर्म असतो. त्यामुळे भारतासारख्या बहुधर्मीय देशात रमजान सणाला मुस्लिम धर्मियांना शुभेच्छा देत हिंदुधर्मीय जसे “ईद”च्या आनंदात सहभागी होतात. तसेच हिंदूंच्या दीपावली सणाच्या शुभेच्छा देत मुस्लिमधर्मीय प्रकाशाचा सण साजरा करायला येतात. हे चित्र फक्त भारतातच दिसते.
• जाता जाता शेवटचा मुद्दा, यावर्षी माझ्या महाराष्ट्र राज्याच्या पंचवार्षिक विधानसभा निवडणुकीच्या प्रचाराला नेमके दीपावलीच्या सणातच सुरुवात होतेय. निवडणूक हा तर लोकशाहीचा सर्वात मोठा सण. देशातील नागरिकांचे भलेही धार्मिक सण वेगवेगळे असतील, पण लोकशाहीचा उत्सव तर एकच आहे. जगातील सर्वात मोठी लोकशाही असलेल्या भारतातील सार्वत्रिक निवडणुकीचा उत्सव हा तर स्वातंत्र्य आणि सार्वभौमत्वाचा उत्सव असतो. स्वतःच्या मतांवर सरकार निवडण्याचा हा उत्सव असतो. म्हणूनच तर सुरुवातीलाच मी म्हंटलंय, सध्या भारतात आनंदाचे दिवस सुरू आहेत.
