Who is the most confident person you know?
I have come across many highly confident individuals in my life, but the one who stands out the most is my son, Soham. Since childhood, I have seen him face every situation with unwavering confidence. This trait is an inseparable part of his personality. As parents, we instilled values in him and taught him good things, but the confidence he possesses is inherently a part of his nature.
To establish myself in journalism and theatre, I had to struggle a lot. Undoubtedly, this had an impact on his childhood. However, he showed remarkable maturity at a young age and, relying solely on his confidence, achieved what seemed impossible for someone from a middle-class background like mine. Today, with sheer confidence and intelligence, he has successfully settled abroad.
In India, if you belong to the open category, you can receive a scholarship solely based on your merit. Soham completed his engineering through the TFWS (Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme) purely on the basis of his academic excellence. He also secured a job in a reputed company in Japan solely due to his merit.
- Academic Journey – A Continuous Pursuit of Excellence :-
Looking at Soham’s academic journey, he has never scored below average. In fact, I cannot recall a time when he scored less than 97%. His approach to studying was unique. He never considered academics a burden; instead, he had a passion for learning new things. He never relied solely on rote memorization but focused on understanding concepts. As a result, whatever he learned, he truly absorbed and applied.
- Our Identity – As ‘Soham’s Parents’ :-
Usually, children are recognized because of their parents, but Soham changed that narrative through his achievements. Today, wherever we go, people ask us, “Are you Soham’s parents?” He has elevated our name with his accomplishments. It is a matter of immense pride for us. He has given us the unparalleled satisfaction of knowing that our life’s purpose has been fulfilled through him.
- Determination and Fulfilling a Dream :-
Since childhood, Soham had a dream of going to Japan. He was fascinated by its culture, technology, and lifestyle. However, there is a vast difference between dreaming and making it a reality. Many people dream big but hesitate to take action. Soham, however, was different. With his relentless determination and hard work, he mastered the Japanese language. Today, he reads, writes, and speaks Japanese fluently. With nothing but his perseverance and confidence, he made his dream of moving to Japan come true.
- The Power of Confidence :-
Soham’s confidence is not just limited to academics or his professional life. He faces every challenge with courage. His willingness to learn new things, his ability to make bold decisions in difficult situations, and his resilience in the face of failure—all these qualities are a testament to his unwavering self-confidence.
Today, he has achieved success purely through his own efforts. Because of him, we, too, can look at the world with immense pride. In my opinion, confidence is Soham, and Soham is confidence!
“आत्मविश्वासाचे मूर्तिमंत प्रतीक म्हणजे माझा मुलगा-सोहम…!”
माझ्या ओळखीत आत्मविश्वासाने परिपूर्ण असलेल्या अनेक व्यक्ती आढळतात, पण त्यामध्ये सर्वात उजवा ठरतो तो माझा मुलगा, सोहम. लहानपणापासून मी त्याला प्रत्येक गोष्टीला आत्मविश्वासाने सामोरे जाताना पाहत आलो आहे. हा गुण त्याच्या व्यक्तिमत्त्वाचा अविभाज्य भाग आहे. आम्ही आई-वडिलांनी त्याच्यावर संस्कार केले, त्याला चांगल्या गोष्टी शिकवल्या, पण त्याच्यातील आत्मविश्वास हा त्याच्या स्वभावातच निसर्गतः अंतर्भूत आहे. पत्रकारिता आणि नाट्यक्षेत्रात ओळख निर्माण करण्यासाठी मला खूप संघर्ष करावा लागला. याचा त्याच्या बालपणावर निश्चितच परिणाम झाला. पण बालवयातच समजूतदारपणा दाखवत केवळ आत्मविश्वासाच्या जोरावर माझ्यासारख्या मध्यमवर्गीयाला जे शक्य नव्हते ते त्याने करून दाखविले. केवळ आत्मविश्वास आणि बुद्धिमत्तेच्या जोरावर आज तो विदेशात स्थिरावला आहे.
भारतात शिक्षण घेताना तुम्ही जर खुल्या प्रवर्गातील असाल तर केवळ तुमच्या गुणवत्तेच्या जोरावरच तुम्हाला स्कॉलरशिप मिळू शकते. सोहमने त्याचे इंजिनिअरिंग "TFWS" या योजनेतून केवळ गुणवत्तेच्या जोरावर पूर्ण केले. जपानला मोठ्या कंपनीत जॉब मिळवला तो देखील गुणवत्तेच्या जोरावरच.
१. शैक्षणिक प्रवास – उत्कृष्टतेची सततची धडपड :-
सोहमच्या शैक्षणिक प्रवासाकडे पाहिल्यास, त्याने कधीही सरासरीच्या खाली गुण मिळवले नाहीत. ९७% पेक्षा कमी मार्क त्याने कधी मिळवले असतील, याची मला आठवणही नाही. त्याची अभ्यासाची पद्धत वेगळी होती. तो अभ्यासाला ओझे म्हणून कधीही पाहत नव्हता, उलट त्याला नव्या गोष्टी शिकण्याची आवड होती. तो केवळ पाठांतरावर अवलंबून नव्हता, तर समजून घेण्यावर त्याचा भर असे. त्यामुळे तो जे शिकायचा, त्याला आत्मसात करायचा.
२. आमची ओळख – ‘सोहमचे आई-वडील’ म्हणून :-
सहसा मुलांची ओळख त्यांच्या आई-वडिलांमुळे होते, पण सोहमने त्याच्या कर्तृत्वाने हे चित्र बदलले. आज ज्या ठिकाणी आम्ही जातो, तिथे आम्हाला “तुम्ही सोहमचे आई-वडील ना?” असे विचारले जाते. त्याने स्वतःच्या कर्तृत्वाने आमचे नाव उंचावले. हे आमच्यासाठी अभिमानास्पद आहे. आमचा जन्म सार्थकी लागल्याचे एक अनोखे समाधान आम्हाला त्याने मिळवून दिले आहे.
३. जिद्द आणि स्वप्नपूर्ती :-
लहानपणापासून सोहमच्या मनात जपानला जाण्याचे स्वप्न होते. त्याला तिथली संस्कृती, तिथले तंत्रज्ञान, तिथले जीवनशैली याचे आकर्षण होते. पण स्वप्न पाहणे आणि ते पूर्ण करणे यामध्ये मोठा फरक असतो. अनेकदा लोक मोठी स्वप्ने पाहतात, पण प्रत्यक्ष कृती करायला घाबरतात. पण सोहमने तसे केले नाही. त्याने आपल्या जिद्दीच्या आणि मेहनतीच्या जोरावर जपानी भाषा आत्मसात केली. आज तो अस्खलित जपानी भाषा लिहितो आणि वाचतो-बोलतो. केवळ स्वतःच्या हिमतीवर जपानला जाण्याचे स्वप्न पूर्ण केले.
४. आत्मविश्वासाची ताकद :-
सोहमचा आत्मविश्वास हा केवळ शैक्षणिक किंवा व्यावसायिक क्षेत्रापुरता मर्यादित नाही. तो कोणत्याही संकटाला धैर्याने सामोरे जातो. नवीन गोष्टी शिकण्याची तयारी, कठीण परिस्थितीत धैर्याने निर्णय घेण्याची क्षमता, अपयशाने खचून न जाता पुढे जाण्याची ताकद – हे सगळे त्याच्या आत्मविश्वासाचे स्पष्ट दर्शन घडवतात.
आज तो त्याच्या आयुष्यात स्वतःच्या हिमतीवर यशस्वी आहे. त्याच्यामुळे आम्हालाही जगाकडे मोठ्या अभिमानाने पाहता येते. माझ्या मते, आत्मविश्वास म्हणजे सोहम, आणि सोहम म्हणजे आत्मविश्वास!
