Vacation… not just a break, but a beautiful opportunity to truly live!
For many, it becomes a cherished memory of a wonderful journey, while for others, it remains an unfulfilled dream.
For me, it’s a different kind of story — where the dream of a vacation often arises, but never quite materializes.
Sometimes due to responsibilities, sometimes due to lack of time, and at times, due to conscious choices — for various reasons, the vacation has always remained distant.
Yet, the embrace of that dream still lingers deep within my heart.
Because dreams that never come true often feel even more beautiful in memory.
And so, this is the story — of an ‘unlived memorable vacation’!
1️⃣ A Wish Left Unfulfilled
In all my life so far, I have never experienced a truly memorable vacation. I planned many times, painted beautiful visions in my mind, but none of them ever came true. Especially the dream of traveling across India with my wife — I always held it in my heart, but it never became a reality.
2️⃣ The Hectic Life in Journalism
I worked in the field of journalism, where the word ‘vacation’ itself seems almost unacceptable. Even when we took a leave, it existed only on paper. Even during personal emergencies, we would be buried in calls, emails, and news updates. Responsibility always felt more real than rest.
3️⃣ Parenthood and Sacrificed Dreams
After the birth of our son, our lives took a new turn. All our youthful years were spent building the path for his education and bright future. There was no time left for vacations or personal joys. We accepted his success as our own, while quietly setting aside our own desires.
4️⃣ The Reimagining of Retirement
At a certain age, when the dream of retirement begins to take shape, so does the desire to travel again. Even I began to dream of an India tour after retirement. But that dream too remained confined to the pages of memory. Because just seven days after declaring my retirement, I had to take up a new responsibility.
5️⃣ A New Responsibility Once Again
I was offered the role of editor at “Amrutvel Media Group.” Just when I envisioned a free and relaxed life, fate placed me once again at the center of duty. I couldn’t refuse this responsibility — it wasn’t just a job, it was the very breath of my professional life.
6️⃣ What Lies Ahead?
Even today, when I see a photo of a beautiful place, my mind drifts to the past. I wonder — “Maybe someday I’ll go there…” But as of now, I have no answer as to when that day will come. Still, there is a hope in my heart — that somewhere along life’s path, I will surely experience a beautiful vacation… and it will truly be memorable!

सुट्टी… केवळ विश्रांती नव्हे, तर जगण्याची एक सुंदर संधी!
अनेक जणांसाठी ती एखाद्या सुंदर प्रवासाची आठवण असते, तर काहींसाठी अपूर्ण राहिलेलं स्वप्न.
माझ्यासाठी ती दुसऱ्या प्रकारची कथा आहे — जिथे सुट्टीचं स्वप्न अनेकदा उभं राहतं, पण प्रत्यक्षात उतरू शकत नाही.
कधी जबाबदाऱ्या, कधी वेळेचा अपुरा ठाव, तर कधी आपल्या निवडीचं भान – अशा अनेक गोष्टींनी सुट्टी कायम लांबलेलीच राहिली.
पण त्या स्वप्नांची मिठी अजूनही मनात घट्ट आहे.
कारण स्वप्नं जी पूर्ण होत नाहीत, ती आठवणीत अजून सुंदर भासतात.
आणि म्हणूनच, ही गोष्ट आहे — एका ‘संस्मरणीय नसलेल्या सुट्टी’ची!
1️⃣ अपूर्ण राहिलेली एक इच्छा
आजवरच्या आयुष्यात मी एकही संस्मरणीय सुट्टी उपभोगलेली नाही. अनेक वेळा नियोजन केलं, मनात सुंदर कल्पना रेखाटल्या, पण प्रत्यक्षात ते शक्य झालं नाही. विशेषतः पत्नीला सोबत घेऊन भारतभर भ्रमण करण्याचं स्वप्न मनात ठेवलं होतं. ते स्वप्न केवळ डोळ्यांतच ठेवलं गेलं, वास्तवात त्याला स्पर्श करता आला नाही.
2️⃣ वृत्तपत्रातली व्यस्त जीवनशैली
मी वृत्तपत्र क्षेत्रात कार्यरत होतो, आणि त्या क्षेत्रात ‘सुट्टी’ हा शब्दच जणू अमान्य असतो. सुट्टी घेतली, तरी ती प्रत्यक्षात निव्वळ कागदोपत्री असते. घरगुती कारणाने रजा घेतली, तरी त्यावेळीदेखील आम्ही फोन, मेल्स आणि बातम्यांच्या गर्दीत हरवलेले असायचो. विश्रांतीपेक्षा जबाबदारी अधिक जवळची वाटायची.
3️⃣ पालकत्व आणि स्वप्नांची अदलाबदल
मुलगा झाल्यानंतर आमचं आयुष्य एका नव्या प्रवासाला लागलं. त्याच्या शिक्षणाच्या, उज्ज्वल भवितव्याच्या मार्गावर आमची सगळी उमेदीची वर्षं खर्च झाली. सुट्टी किंवा वैयक्तिक आनंद यासाठी वेळ शिल्लकच राहिला नाही. त्याचं यश आमचं यश मानून आम्ही स्वतःच्या इच्छा मागे सारत गेलो.
4️⃣ निवृत्तीचे नवसंस्कार
वयाच्या एका टप्प्यावर, जेव्हा निवृत्तीचं स्वप्न उगम पावतं, तेव्हा मनात पुन्हा एकदा सैर करण्याची आस जागते. माझ्याही मनात निवृत्तीनंतर भारतदौऱ्याचं नवं स्वप्न उगम पावलं. पण ते स्वप्नही केवळ आठवणींच्या वहीतच राहिलं. कारण निवृत्ती घोषित केल्यानंतर केवळ सातव्या दिवशी मला पुन्हा जबाबदारी स्वीकारावी लागली.
5️⃣ पुन्हा एक नवी जबाबदारी
“अमृतवेल मीडिया ग्रुप”च्या संपादक पदाची जबाबदारी माझ्यावर आली. मी जेव्हा मोकळा व्हायचं स्वप्न बघत होतो, तेव्हाच नियतीनं मला पुन्हा केंद्रस्थानी उभं केलं. ही जबाबदारी मी नाकारू शकलो नाही. कारण हा केवळ व्यवसाय नव्हता, तर माझ्या व्यावसायिक आयुष्याचा श्वास होता.
6️⃣ पुढे काय?
आजही कधी एखादी सुंदर जागेचा फोटो पाहिला, की मन भूतकाळात जातं. वाटतं – “कदाचित एक दिवस मी तिथं जाईन…” पण तो दिवस कधी येईल, याचं उत्तर सध्या तरी माझ्याकडे नाही. तरीही मनात एक आशा आहे — की जीवनाच्या कुठल्या वळणावर तरी, एका सुंदर सुट्टीचा अनुभव मला नक्की मिळेल… आणि तो संस्मरणीयच ठरेल!
